Italian Wine Scholar - Marche & Abruzzo
Our Italian (IWS) evenings are in-depth tastings on all the key regions and lesser-known regions of Italy. The IWS study and certification program is geared for members of the wine trade and avid Italian wine enthusiasts. We are offering the opportunity to attend single evening sessions of our Italian Wine Scholar course - perfect for those who want to experience an evening of the course before committing to the full course or for anyone who wants to learn more about a specific region in Italy.
Marche is the only Italian regions that is referred to in the plural form rather than the singular speaking volumes to its history. Several historically autonomous entities were joined together to create this very diverse region which is enhanced by several unique wine districts that developed through the years, each one strongly and unequivocally connected with its own traditional grapes.
Abruzzo although geographically small figures large on the Italian wine map rivalling Tuscany as the third-most productive region of central and Southern Italy. It’s also home to some of Italy’s historic producers whose stature and quality of wine has given more visibility to this region.
On this evening, you will taste at least 8 wines that showcase the different varietals, wine-making styles and terroir of these wine regions.
