UPDATED CONTENT: 15th October 2020
It was announced that as of this Friday evening 16th October 2020, London will be moving to Tier 2 (High Alert).
West London Wine School is a Covid-Secure business and is classed as Adult Education. Therefore we follow the same guidance as given to schools, so in-person classes and courses will continue to run unless further restrictions are put in place.
We are maintaining strict social distancing between attendees and only those who book as a household may sit together however this is also restricted to two people maximum per table.
Our tutors will continue to wear masks when pouring wine at your table and hand sanitiser is available for each student in the classroom. All our evening classes finish by 9.30pm latest.
For Individuals With Upcoming Bookings at West London Wine School
We understand that each of our attendees may have different reasons and motivations for attending our tastings and courses at our school. We also appreciate that each individual will have outside considerations, concerns and responsibilities that may impact their desire or ability to attend an upcoming tasting or course with us at this time. Rest assured that anyone who is booked to attend an upcoming tasting or course at West London Wine School may transfer their booking to a later date or receive credit towards attending a different event at a later date should they feel more comfortable postponing their booking due to the current environment. Please just get in touch if you would like to do so.
While we have every intention of hosting our tastings and courses as scheduled, we must acknowledge that there is uncertainty around if and when new restrictions will come into effect. As the government may impose new restrictions that could prohibit some of our upcoming tastings and courses from going ahead as expected, if you need to book travel arrangements in order to attend your upcoming booking with us, please ensure that you are aware of your transportation provider’s transfer/cancellation policies before finalising your travel arrangements. We recommend avoiding making any travel plans that cannot be changed due to the current uncertainty around future government guidelines and restrictions. Anyone who has an upcoming booking with West London Wine School, and may be impacted due to transportation arrangements are encouraged to let us know asap. We are more than happy to assist in postponing your attendance for this reason as well.
What happens if rules change and we can't have face to face tastings?
We have been successfully running online events since April and we can now deliver sample sized bottles of wine to your door (UK mainland), so if we are no longer able to operate in-person tastings or courses, we will transition as many of these events as possible to an online format. We will only do this if the restrictions require us to do so however.
If you do have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us and we'll get back to you as quickly as we can. Please be aware that we will have a large number of emails to get back to, so your patience is really appreciated!
In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you on one of our many tastings and courses – either in-person or online.
Health & Hygiene at the school
- We will continue to adopt a two-metre social distancing rule at the school.
- We have a 5-litre pump of hand sanitiser at the school as well as smaller 500ml dispensers of hand sanitisers in each classroom which can be used alongside the sanitisers and handwash that is available in the toilets.
- Individual spittoons will be made available.
- We recommend that you bring your own water bottle.
- The tutors will wear gloves whilst handling the glassware.
- When arriving at the venue only one person can go into the lift at any one time (unless you are joining as a household) so we would ask that you arrive a little earlier than usual to make sure that you can start the class on time.
To confirm our policy, you will all be offered:
- Free rebooking with no amendment fees; or
- Free cancellation and a credit equivalent to your original ticket price to be used as payment for future events; or
- To switch to an online course if you prefer.
We have several hundred students who join us every year for tastings and courses, but we are a small team – so please bear with us! You will all be contacted in due course and we ask for your patience once again.
Thank you for your ongoing understanding, we hope to see you at the physical school asap! In the meantime, do check out our online fun!
We've missed you and we look forward to seeing you all in person soon,
Jimmy, Beth & the West London Wine School team.
