New York's Finger Lakes with Quentin Sadler
Quentin Sadler, a friend of the West London Wine School and known to many of you, toured the wineries of New York State's Finger Lake region last year. What he found there really impressed him. Thinking these wines deserved a wider audience he arranged for some bottles to be shipped over and has agreed to present a tasting of some of the best examples from his precious supply to us at the West London Wine School.
Quentin will take us on a journey through this beautiful, but underexposed wine region, showing us what makes wine making possible in this unlikely place and presenting a range of wines that illustrate what the Finger Lakes has to offer. He has promised to bring a great sparkling wine, some Pinot Noir, a Meritage blend, a whacky regional red blend, Chardonnay and some Riesling - the region's signature grape variety - with us. All of these are high quality wines from boutique wineries that make their wines with love, care and attention to detail - these are not novelty wines, they really do deserve to be tasted. All the estates in the Finger Lakes region are very small, so production is limited and these wines are simply not available on export markets, so Quentin has had the wines shipped over especially for the tasting.
So come along for something a little out of the ordinary and very exciting, after all how often do we get the chance to taste wines from a region new to most of us?
