1 Evening Tasting - Chardonnay & Pinot Noir - Grape Expectations

Join us as we discover two of the most important grape varieties in the world of wine, the versatile and adpatable Chardonnay and the enthusiast's Pinot Noir. Our 'Grape Expectations - Taste the Grape' course is a fantastic introduction in understanding the various flavour profiles available in the world of wine (WSET - Wine & Spirit Education Trust recommended approach to an Introduction to Wine).

Chardonnay

This diverse grape variety is at home in the highly-recognised Burgundy and Champagne districts in France, making both still and sparkling - this must be investigated therefore we will taste a Champagne (as Chardonnay is the principle white variety), a Chablis and a village Burgundy such as Meursault. In extension, Chardonnay is grown all across the world and we will taste a New World style to compare and discover how warmer climates change the flavour profiles. This great to experience all of the various styles that Chardonnay has to offer.

Pinot Noir

Burgundy is also the spiritual home of Pinot Noir, a variety locked in any wine aficionados heart. Within the undulating hills of Côte d’Or in Burgundy, from villages such as Gevrey-Chambertin and Nuits-st-Georges, we find the famous expressions of the classic grape varieties, and wines to die for. This stubborn low-yielding grape survives in small pockets of the world, such as New Zealand, parts of 'cooler' Australia, Oregon and Chile so we taste one of these New World styles to complete the fantastic tasting.

All tastings include; minimum of 8 wines sourced locally so you can find them easily if you like them, full tasting notes, tasting sheet, use of professional tastings glasses and nibbles.
